Martha Parks
During his time as an apprentice
veterinarian Dr. Parks met Martha Shotwell.
Martha was born in Cincinnati OH, and graduated from Marathon
Central School, Marathon, NY in 1930. She then went on to Nursing
School in Cortland County to graduate in 1933. They were
married in 1934.
Dr. Parks goes on to write:
| "My own veterinary practice began in
Lake Ariel, PA in Wayne County until I became married and then
we moved to Honesdale, PA. We lived on the side of the
mountain overlooking the Dyberry Valley and creek. We
decided to name our breeding operation after that valley, thus
the Dyberry Hill Farm." |
In 1937 Dr. Parks and Martha bought a lot and built a house, moving
there with twins Sylvia and George. Another son Louis was to
come later.
