When talking with Pat she'll point out that it's important to remember that as the Morgan horse was gaining popularity in the 40's, and 50's it was often difficult to find quality mares.  The first Morgans that the Longs brought to the farm were two mares...Ginger Mildan (purchased from Bill Fritz of Churchville and out of Ruthven's Mildred Ann by Allen's Major), and Ruby Hawk (out of Kitty Hawk by Roubidoux.) A third mare -  Vixen (out of Althea by Virgil) followed.

Here she talks about her first mares...Ginger Mildan and Ruby Hawk.
