A bit more about our member....Susan Field Sullivan

Randhill Farm originated on Rand Hill Road in Altona, NY, hence the prefix. Unfortunately as we all know, life changes and throws us curves and hills. In 1999 I was forced, due to the dissolution of my marriage, to disburse the horses and sell the farm. In 2000 I relocated back to Massachusetts and in 2005 I moved back to West Chazy in upstate NY. I was fortunate to locate and buy back a lot of my horses, the mares: Randhill Adirondack, Randhill Linnet, and Randhill Saucy Fox and my gelding: Randhill New York. I have since added the Black Panther daughter Jada Empress and now have two fillies – Jada’s two-year-old and Adirondack’s yearling. Now I am Randhill Morgans at Willow Manor Morgans in Plattsburgh, NY as I lease land from my friend Sharron Garden who also raises Morgan Horses.

My first Morgan was the gelding Orcland Special T (Tinder Box x Orcland Jonette). Although I had been at Orcland Farm for years and worked with the horses I never could afford my own until 1985 when I made an arrangement to work off the purchase price for “Kid”.

When we were on Rand Hill, we were members of the NYSMHS and then I rejoined along with my son, Callum again last year mainly due to all the activities. I really enjoy the Stallion Service Auction, shows and the historic information on the web site.

I have not shown in years, but would like to in the future. I enjoy breeding and trying to preserve these old bloodlines that I love and that are up so close in my mares. I have two full sisters (Randhill Adirondack and Randhill Linnet) that have Orcland Leader as a grandsire and Ulendon and Tutor as great-grandsires. I have another mare, Randhill Saucy Fox, who has UNH Astronaut, Orcland Supreme, and Waseeka’s Skylark as grandsires and Mentor as a great-grandsire. She also has Silkoline who was a full sister to Trophy as a granddam. There is a lot of history bred in these horses.

I do some trail riding so I guess you could say that the horses are my “pleasure”. They certainly are a touch stone in my life.
