The club was fortunate in that other people and groups wanted a "Morgan Horse Show" at the New York State Fairgrounds in Syracuse.

Mr. Gordon Voorhis of Red Hook, NY gave Curt a check for $500.00 and told him that any amount over and above his entry and stall fees could be used in any way the Club wished towards the cost of the show.

As a result of the successful show, Curt was able to forward a check to Mr. Voorhis, repaying him for the thoughtful "Gift" portion of his $500.00.

Our first New York Morgan Show was in October of 1960 and there were 104 entries.  We were visited by Dana Kelly, Dr. Parks, and Dayton Sumner who helped us kick off the event.  Big winners were Voorhis Farm, Braemar Farms (Everett Crosby, Bing’s brother) Blue Spruce Farms (Plauth family) and the Archibald Cox’s Lord Jeff.  Ken Chichester’s Morgan Monty Gates demonstrated log pulling and Doris Laidlaw rode Gallant Lad.  Arthur Titus was the judge and there were 35 classes over the two day event in the Syracuse Coliseum.  Show results here

The count was 300 Morgans in 1967 and it was then that the NYSMHS had its first National Invitational Sale on Friday October 6th.  This was also the year where the Mike Hens Memorial Sportsmanship Trophy was awarded “A perpetual trophy given in the memory of Mike Hens the young marine who gave his life in Vietnam.”  Mike and his family were longtime NYSMHS members and Mike had been a frequent face at club events and in the show ring.  The Saddle Pairs class this year was won by Gay Cavalier & Green Meads Glamour ridden by Mr. and Mrs. Darwin Morse.  Show results here
We were up to 370 entries in 1968 and the show featured the introduction of our first New York Morgan Queen, Diane Smith of Lysander, NY.  Helen Crabtree was one of our Judges.  This was also the first year we offered the “International Stake Night” with big prize money.  To qualify exhibitors must have placed in a similar class in an AHSA member all Morgan show in the USA or Canada.  Our International Park Morgan in Harness Champion that year was Ledgewood Pecora.  Show results here
