There were 462 entries in 1970 and Doris Ryan was one of our Judges. Fleetwings Prophet was the Park Harness Champion and International Park Harness Champion. Hanover Super Love with Bill Parker won the International Junior Park Morgan Saddle Championship. Show results here |
| In 1971 it was noted that the show saw over 7,000 spectators over the weekend of classes. Placings in the International Park Harness Championship class went 1. UVM Promise owned by Mr. & Mrs. D.S. Morse, 2. Bennfields Ace, owned by Mrs. Edna Avery and 3. Fleetwing’s Prophet owned by the Sullivan family. Show results here |
| Records show that 602 numbers were given out in 1972 and it was during the Park Harness Championship class of that year that there was the famous duel between Beamington (shown by Doris Ryan) and Bennfields Ace. On this date Beamington came out the victor, but it was a very hard fought battle between two exceptional Morgans. Ann Hutcheson won the Saddle Seat Championship on Townshend Vigilward for Bridle Vale Farm. The year 1973 was another big one. The headlines in our show report read “Crusader does it again” with Oldwick Crusader retiring the NYSMHS Member Challenge Trophy after winning it for owner Bill Lutz three years in a row. The Snook family participated in the popular Morgan Cavalcade class with their Ashwood Rob Allen and were decked out in 1920’s attire in their rig. Show results here |
| October 2 – 5, 1974 saw a snowy NY Morgan Horse show. This was the year when after winning the International Park Saddle Class on Big Bend H-Bomb Phil Price tossed his hat into the stands. Catskill Senator Lad, then a four-year old stallion and owned by Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Sears completed a clean sweep of the Western Pleasure classes, winning the International Western Pleasure Championship. And our 2007 Mike Hen’s award winner – Sandy Trushel – was then Sandy Hicks and on Corinthian Sonata she won the International English Pleasure Championship. Show results here |
| In 1975 we were at a record 610 entries and Mabel Owen judged our In-Hand classes. This was the year that our NY bred Saddleback Supreme with Fred Herrick brilliantly won the International Park Harness Championship. The Justin Morgan Versatility Award was first given out this year on the basis of points accumulated in various classes throughout the show and it’s original winner was Wedare’s Donzel a 9 year old stallion owned by Mr and Mrs. Siegal of Deer Run Farm, Liberty, NY. | We counted 671 entries in 1976. The show introduced new divisions for Geldings and Hunters, with ten performance classes expressly for geldings. The Open Jumping class was decided in a timed jump-off with a blazingly fast clean round from Wedare’s Donzel. UVM Venture was named Hunter Champion and Gale Talmadge’s Linsley’s Lord Jim was Reserve. The bicentennial quilt – a project conceived and organized by Carole Salvagione was featured on the front of the show program. Show results here |

| In 1979 Marsha Shepard and Lore Homer were among our Judges
and there were 562 entries. Starting on September 26th the show ran
four days. At nineteen years of age, Oldwick Crusader performed like a three-
year old to become Friday evenings Amateur Park Saddle Championship. Corambo
was our Grand Champion Stallion. R-B-Bar Lord Spence, Topfield Janet and
Broadwall Spartan were all Champions in their respective divisions. In our
Sidesaddle Class it was Skyloft Nathan Allen ridden by Judy Anderson that
