First there was Honee Doo..

A local paper at that time printed the following article...

A 15-year-old Beach Rd. boy on a Palomino mare was winner of the blue ribbon for western jumping at the annual Villa Riding Club Horse Show in Young Rd. last Sunday.

He is Gordon Allen, 660 Beach Rd.  A prize of ten dollars came with the blue ribbon.

"Honee Doo," his three-year-old mare is very similar in coloring to Roy Rogers' "Trigger," with a long blond mane and tail nearly touching the ground.

Gordon purchased her just a month ago, and trained her to jump.  She and Gordon outclassed eight riders Sunday, all adults!

"Gordon is well-known in the community, since he carried the Cheetowaga Times in the Valeway section for several years, and is now delivering the Courier-Express in the Beach-Genesee area.

His faithful collie dog, Lucky, accompanies him.  Besides his paper routes, Gordon has caddied at the West brook Golf Club, thus earning the money to buy his first horse.
