Update - two changes to things relating to the Dressage Division - first, the Joan I. Sackett Memorial High Score Award will be awarded to the horse/rider combination showing with the overall high score to be determined based on the average of their highest score from each day of the competition.

Also, please note that the information for Class 416 AMHA Dressage Seat Medal is no longer accurate. Instead of each exhibitor riding Training Level Test 4 as stated in the prize list, they all ride together in one class. Horses are to enter ring at a medium walk. To be judged at a medium walk, working trot (sitting and rising) and working canter both ways of the ring. The judge may ask any and/or all riders to perform movements and exercises as required in Training and First Level.

NY Regional Show Update

Celebrating the First 50 years!
Can you believe the 50th anniversary show is nearly here? We’ve been talking about it for over a year, the committee has worked hard getting ready for this show and now we’re down to the wire!

The history of the New York Morgan Regional Championship Show is long and rich with many traditions as well as being a dynamic show, always incorporating new ideas. We have great old traditions and some pretty cool new ones. For sure, what has remained constant is the quality and commitment of our exhibitors. After months of work, much brushing, and lots of practice, the time is Now! and one can feel the excitement when you drive onto the grounds.

The Regional Show is a great venue for both young and experienced horses and young and experienced riders. We have a great class schedule, and expect the quality to run deep as it has in the past years. We are featuring Four “Blast From the Past” classes, remembering the Championships from the first Morgan Show in 1960. They will have added money, so get ready for some serious and fun competition.

In support of these classes a limited edition issue of a commemorative button will be for sale at the show. This button features the image used at the first show in 1960 and will be a keepsake for sure.

The Tuesday night Welcome chili party, sponsored by Lingering Hills Stables is a perfect way to settle in. Wednesday is opening day, starting with the youngsters in hand, and then the performance classes and ending with the fun Versatility Class.

The Sub party Wednesday afternoon sponsored by members from all over the State should be a nice break in the activity during the day. Thursday is a full day of classes, and is the first day of dressage, ending with the Exhibitor’s party, sponsored by the Show.

Friday features day 2 of Dressage, lots of ring activity and a party hosted by the SSA preceding the exciting evening session with the Stallion Service Sweepstakes classes.

Saturday has something for all… Carriage starts the day, and later everyone’s favorite class, the leadline class as well as many Championship classes.

Another salute to our history is a return of the lovely Heritage Class Saturday evening. The Dog Show in the afternoon, and the After glow pizza party Saturday night make this another fun and full day.

We are adding a new ‘tradition’ this year, with a Barn sale to sell and buy horse related items. Go thru your closets and tack rooms. Take advantage of this to do a little fall cleaning, a chance to get a ‘new to you’ outfit or tack, and to make a little money for the show and for yourself! Make sure you get to the Coliseum Friday and Saturday and shop shop shop. The Barn sale will be near the History room and a visit to the History room is a critical stop for everyone at the show. Val Low has done an outstanding job as always and this year will be no exception.

Throughout the show, there will be a Lucky Horseshoe Treasure hunt. Find the specially decorated horseshoes (including one special golden shoe) and bring them to the office for a surprise. Random raffle drawings will go on as well, so be sure to listen for your name to get valuable gift certificates and prizes.

Make sure you sign up for the Youth contest under direction of Marilyn Ackerman!

Naomi Blumenthal and her staff will be managing the office, and keeping things running smoothly, so if you need something, ask.

To our Exhibitors and members: We’ve asked for your support through sponsorships, advertising, and your presence at the show. You’ve responded time and time again and we thank you. This is your show and it couldn’t happen without you. We wish you the best of luck, in the company of the best horses!

Let’s Celebrate the First 50 Years!
